Central Moscow

Origin: Patriarch's Ponds / Tverskaya, Moscow. Validated: 2026-05-16.

What this preset models

This models Patriarch's Ponds and Tverskaya: extremely dense food, culture, services, and metro access, with water and a small park directly nearby plus dense historic housing. Unlike the Saint Petersburg preset, it must tolerate major roads because Tverskaya, the Garden Ring, and large central squares are part of the area.

Measurements

  • Nominatim geocoded Patriarch's Ponds to 55.7643481, 37.5918749.
  • OSM/Overpass within 800 m: 82 cafes, 38 coffee shops, 103 restaurants, 33 fast food places, 22 grocery/convenience shops, 8 24/7 groceries, 7 supermarkets, 23 pharmacies.
  • OSM/Overpass within 800 m: 51 culture venues, the nearest metro station is about 678 m away, and there are 50 public transport stops.
  • OSM/Overpass within 500 m: about 26.4 km of explicitly mapped pedestrian infrastructure, about 16.6 km of 3-7 floor residential building perimeter, and about 2.4 km of motorway/trunk/primary.
  • OSM/Overpass found park/water almost at the origin: Patriarch's Pond and its surrounding square.
  • Open Topo Data SRTM30m, 5x5 grid within roughly 300 m: 12 m elevation range. Moscow's relief is generally minor, but the center has small hills, so the target is softer than Saint Petersburg's.
  • External sources support the reading: Patriarch's Ponds is a dense restaurant district, Tverskaya is a main street with several metro stations and cultural venues, and the Garden Ring is a major ring road around central Moscow.

Weight decisions

  • cafe, coffee, restaurant, and culture are core signals because they are central to the actual neighborhood.
  • park and water are higher than before: the pond and square are directly at the origin.
  • walkability is softer: pedestrian infrastructure is dense, but major roads are genuinely nearby.
  • subway remains high, but a 9 minute target is more honest than 8 because Patriarch's Ponds is close to metro, not on top of it.
  • forest and marketplace are disabled: this is an urban pattern, not a forest or bazaar pattern. OSM protected_area buffers should not drive this preset.
